Dr. Afiya Narzis specializes in process-based modeling, climate change impact analysis, GIS, and remote sensing. Her research centers on building community resilience through process-based modeling (SWAT+, StormWise, SWMM, HEC-HMS, etc.), with a core focus on providing sustainable solutions for water quality improvement and flood hazard mitigation. Driven by her roots in Bangladesh-an agriculture-based, flood-prone nation where soil health and water management are deeply interconnected, Afiya is expanding her work into process-based modeling for agricultural watersheds. She is currently investigating the field-scale application of the SWAT+ carbon model to assess soil organic carbon dynamics across the United States, with a view to bridging the gap between the agricultural sustainability and watershed management.
