Dr. Bazrkar joined Texas A&M AgriLife Research as a postdoctoral research associate in August 2021. His research area includes but is not limited to identifying and predicting extreme events and their impacts on water quality using statistics and machine learning techniques. He has developed three novel drought indices, hydroclimatic aggregate drought index (HADI), Snow-based hydroclimatic aggregate drought index (SHADI), and standardized baseflow index (SBFI), a customized drought categorization (CDC) model based on spatial and temporal distributions of drought, and two soft-computing models, ensemble stationary-based support vector regression (ESSVR) and category-based scoring support vector regression (CBS-SVR) to improve drought prediction. Hadi is also doing research on eco-hydrologic modeling using SWAT and APEX-MODFLOW to simulate water quality parameters.
